This lesson is for all of you that have never played the guitar before but would like to learn how to play it.
The guitar has 6 strings and we count them from the bottom up.
1st string = E
2nd string = B
3rd string = G
4th string = D
5th string = A
6th string = E
Please take a look a this picture and memorize the most important parts of the guitar.
You can hold the guitar using your right leg (not recommended because it may cause back problems) or you can hold the guitar using some kind of footstool/support.
The right hand is represented by letters and the left hand is represented by numbers:
The correct body positioning will be demonstrated in the video. The basic position for the right hand is to place the "a" finger on string 1, "m" finger on string 2, "i" finger on string 3, and "p" on string 6.
Exercise 1: Keep the hand in this position for 2 minutes
Exercise 2: Move the hand away, relax it, create the same position in the air and then place it back on the guitar.
The basic position for the left hand is to place finger 1 on fret 1 of the second string, finger 2 on fret 2 of the second string, finger 3 on fret 3 of the second string, and finger 4 at the fourth fret of the second string.
Exercise 3: Keep the hand in this position for 2 minutes
Exercise 4: Move the hand away, relax it, create the same position in the air and then place it back on the guitar.
Keep practicing these exercises until you can easily recreate and place the position on the guitar.
